About
Welcome to Tie Dyed Fly Guides!
Tie Dyed Fly Guides is a fully insured, and licensed, catch & release, Fly Fishing Guide Service operating year-round in Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. We cater to both novice & experienced fly anglers alike, providing an elevated angling experience while in pursuit of Trout, and Steelhead.
Our Singular Passion: Fooling Salmonids [Trout & Steelhead] with a Fly [Fleye].
Our Mission: Sharing that experience in the outdoors with you and others from all walks of life through custom guided fishing trips, and personalized hands-on instruction. Chris is a native of southwestern Pennsylvania, and makes his home in southern Vermont, leaving the Upper Delaware River & Western Catskill region of New York exactly half-way in between. He's been exploring this corridor for over thirty years, and feels equally at home finding fish in all three locations. Guiding in four states, and centering his business & visual-content work around the premiere fresh-water destination fishery east of the Rocky Mountains, that is the Upper Delaware system, has been a natural progression, and the answer for growing his business & creative work sustainably for the future.
We fish in some really beautiful places.
Vermont / New York / Massachusetts: We love our late Summer & Fall Trouting excursions in Vermont, northwest Massachusetts, and the NY Tri-State border region. The Connecticut River Valley, and The Berkshires also host several great trout fisheries with wild/naturalized and stocked trout to include "the big three;" Rainbow, Brown and Eastern Brook Trout. Lots of tributary and small river Native Brook Trout "blue-line" fishing to explore with us here as well. Reach-out directly [EARLY!!!] to book Fall dates for Streamer "meat-season" and your shot at landing a memory of a lifetime.
The Upper Delaware River & Western Catskills: New England is slow to warm after months of snowfall, and cold runoff in the Spring, so we head a few hours southwest to the NY/PA border & western Catskills to start chasing wild Trout by late March. This area is home to the Upper Delaware River, and The Delaware River Club where Chris is a Fly Fishing Guide rowing his Hyde drift boat on a full-time/exclusive basis for the club. Reach out to the DRC to book your date[s] with Chris from March through mid-June. Yes, the fishing here is THAT GOOD. Yes, there's a good chance you will forget all about your home river[s]. Don't say we didn't warn you.
Steelhead Alley "Proper Fishing:" Lake Ontario tributaries. In the Fall our attention will turn to the New York section of Steelhead Alley, and swinging large flies for migrating lake-run Steelhead, Salmon, and Brown Trout. These trips are week-day walk & wade excursions that cover water actively with streamers. As Halloween approaches we begin our own annual migration for these spooky fish; checking weather & flows thoroughly, and picking our days wisely. These fish are like nothing you'll find in freshwater anywhere else on the east coast, pushing anglers and their gear to extremes. The Winter months from December through March are also harsh here, so we see most of our prime weather, swing-water and fish between late-October through late-December, then again after March first through early April for "Drop-Back" season. These fish ruin fly-tackle AND will crush your dreams; plan your life [and booked date(s) with Chris] accordingly.
